For US ecommerce, the year is not one holiday — it is a sequence of peaks that each deserve a durable URL, refreshed copy, and a technical checklist. This calendar is for SEO agencies and marketers planning American retail clients from November 2026 through December 2027. Federal holiday dates follow the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) schedules. Retailer-invented events (Prime Day, Green Monday) are marked announced or TBC.
Permanent paths such as /black-friday/ and /cyber-monday/ beat annual throwaway URLs. Combine dates with ecommerce SEO fundamentals: Product and Offer schema, feed health, and crawlable gift guides. Find agencies via ecommerce SEO in the United States or get matched.
How to use this calendar for SEO
| Lead time before peak | What to ship |
|---|---|
| 12–16 weeks | Keyword map, evergreen sale URL, brief, SERP gap analysis |
| 8–12 weeks | Page live; internal links from categories and gift guides |
| 4–8 weeks | Title/H1/FAQ refresh; Offer schema; Core Web Vitals and checkout load test |
| 2–4 weeks | Dates, shipping deadlines, inventory messaging; indexing requests |
| Peak week | Daily price/availability updates; Search Console monitoring |
| After peak | Pivot to next event (Cyber Monday → Green Monday → shipping cut-offs → January clearance) |
Tristan Brunsdon of Design Box Digital (designbox.com.au, Melbourne) frames US peak planning like a build pipeline: "Black Friday is a product launch with a fixed ship date. Your SEO work is the sprint that has to finish before the promo creative does — not after."

Late 2026: Thanksgiving through New Year
Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November. Everything in the BFCM cluster hangs off that date.

| Thu 26 Nov 2026 | Thanksgiving Day (OPM) | Prep site for traffic surge Friday; publish hours for stores. |
| Fri 27 Nov 2026 | Black Friday | Core commercial query; refresh permanent URL from August–September. |
| Sat 28 Nov 2026 | Small Business Saturday | Local and independent angles; GBP posts and local landing pages. |

| Fri 18 Dec 2026 | USPS Priority Mail recommended | |

USPS holiday shipping deadlines 2026 (contiguous US)
From the USPS national release (22 Sep 2026), for expected delivery before 25 Dec 2026:
| Service | Recommended mail-by |
|---|---|
| USPS Ground Advantage | 17 Dec 2026 |
| First-Class Mail | 17 Dec 2026 |
| Priority Mail | 18 Dec 2026 |
| Priority Mail Express | 19 Dec 2026 |
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and US territories have the same 2026 mail-by dates for First-Class Mail (Dec 17), Priority Mail (Dec 18) and Priority Mail Express (Dec 19). Only USPS Ground Advantage differs: packages between the contiguous US and those locations have a service expectation of 10 days or more. Military and international mail have their own USPS list — link USPS rather than oversimplifying in client copy.

Event-by-event SEO playbook
Black Friday / Cyber Monday / Small Business Saturday
The 2026 cluster is 27–30 November. Start SEO no later than August: refresh the evergreen BF URL, earn internal links, and implement Offer schema with USD and priceValidUntil. Yoast-style “45 days out” is a minimum for thin sites; competitive categories need longer.
Tristan’s view: "If the only difference between this year’s Black Friday page and last year’s is the year in the title, you left ranking power on the table — update FAQs, shipping rules, and which SKUs you actually have."
Super Bowl Sunday
2026: 8 Feb (Super Bowl LX, already played). 2027: 14 Feb (Super Bowl LXI, NFL / venue announcements). Food, TV, apparel and party goods see a short, intense spike. Publish guides 4–6 weeks out; do not confuse with Valentine’s unless the offer genuinely covers both (2027 they fall on the same Sunday).
Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4
Federal long weekends drive mattress, appliance, auto and travel searches. One hub per holiday with store-hours and shipping FAQs outperforms a generic “holiday sale” page.
Prime Day
2026 (US): 23–26 June (About Amazon). 2027: TBC — watch About Amazon, not rumor round-ups. Non-Amazon brands can target “Prime Day deals” alternatives only with honest comparison content.
Singles Day (11 November)
Useful for beauty and marketplace clients; secondary to BFCM for most US DTC brands.
Green Monday and shipping cut-offs
December organic demand shifts from “best deals” to “still ships before Christmas.” Put USPS dates on cart, PDP and a dedicated shipping FAQ. Green Monday (14 Dec 2026 / 13 Dec 2027) is a content refresh opportunity, not always a separate ranking URL.
Mid-year and soft peaks (beyond BFCM)
Black Friday gets the headlines; mid-year peaks still move revenue and rankings.
Prime Day as an SEO rehearsal
When Amazon announces dates (2026 US: 23–26 June), treat the event as a dress rehearsal for Q4: the same landing-page templates, Offer schema patterns and load-testing scripts should run here first. Non-Amazon retailers should only create “Prime Day alternative” pages when they have genuine category depth — thin round-ups rarely outrank Amazon or major publishers.
Back-to-school (July–August)
Search intent is research-heavy (supplies, laptops, dorm) rather than one-day deal hunting. Strengthen category and buying-guide URLs continuously from June; a single /back-to-school-sale/ page is optional.
Tax-free weekends and state nuances
Some US states run sales-tax holidays in summer. These are state policy, not federal OPM holidays. Only localize landing pages if the client actually qualifies — inventing a national “tax-free weekend” page creates trust issues.
Q1 clearance and Presidents Day
January clearance and the Washington’s Birthday / Presidents Day weekend (16 Feb 2026; 15 Feb 2027) suit big-ticket categories. Refresh mattress, appliance and travel hubs six weeks out; keep federal holiday naming accurate in footnotes when you cite OPM.
Page architecture and measurement
- Evergreen event URLs; year in title/H1 only.
- Separate BF and Cyber Monday URLs or one BFCM hub with clear H2s — pick one model per site and stick to it.
- Schema generator and meta tag generator for rapid refreshes; technical SEO before load tests.
- Track event weeks in Search Console and GA4 with annotations.
- For multi-market brands, wire hreflang early — see the cross-market planner article in this series.
